Telling a Sensitive Mission Story Without Exploiting Trauma

YWCA Billings needed a donation appeal video for its annual Purse-a-Palooza fundraiser—one that could help donors understand the impact of its work while protecting the privacy and dignity of the people it serves. The organization provides critical support through safe housing, crisis services, domestic violence support, and educational programs, making sensitivity central to the storytelling approach.

Kinetic created a thoughtful video that focused on hope, resilience, and the real difference donor support can make. By using careful visuals, narration, and a collaborative creative process, we helped YWCA Billings share the heart of its mission without sensationalizing trauma or compromising confidentiality. The video was contributed in-kind to the YWCA’s cause and we were thrilled to highlight a much-needed service in our community. The video also received a 2024 Platinum Viddy Award.
